“The Air is Clear” is an ethereal abstract seascape oil painting 40 x 40cm (16 x 16 inches) on 4cm (1.5 inch) deep canvas.

 

It’s inspired by the River Thames at night. I have lived near the river in Hammersmith for 25 years and I’m soon to leave to move to the sea in Sussex, so this painting is full of reflection. It’s titled from the song Certain Surprise by John Martyn

It’s painted in shades of blue, black and white . The paint is layered, blended and slightly textured in parts. It is glazed to protect the surface and has a slight glossy sheen. The painting continues around the sides of the canvas and it is signed on the back. It is to hang and come with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
